THQ Nordic, Disney Games, and developer Purple Lamp have released the HD remake Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox ($59.99).
Rebrushed is a modern remake of the 2010 3D adventure-platformer, with enhanced graphics and gameplay features.
Epic Mickey is the rare Disney video game (especially in 2010) that stars Mickey Mouse in an original adventure. In the story, Mickey accidentally spills some magic ink on a model of Disneyland, transporting him into the Wasteland, a now-darkened version of Disneyland.
The Wasteland is home to forgotten Disney characters such as Oswald the rabbit (a precursor to Mickey), with enemies and locations inspired by classic Mickey Mouse stories and cartoons. Armed with a magic brush, Mickey can erase enemies and create helpful objects.
The remastered version expands Mickey’s powers with familiar modern platforming abilities, such as dash, ground pound, and sprint.
The original game sold enough to warrant a sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, adding two player co-op with Oswald.
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is available now in Standard and a limited Collector’s Edition ($199.99). The Collector’s Edition includes a Steelbook, Oswald keychain, postcards, tin sign, and a Mickey Mouse statue.
A free demo is available on the PlayStation Store. The platformer is rated E10+.
