Weyrdworks has released virtual pet game Weyrdlets on PC (Steam), and it’s free!

Weyrdlets is inspired by the Tamagotchi virtual pet craze of the late 90s/early 2000s, and Nintendogs in the years after. Players adopt a cute little monster buddy that can live right on your desktop, totally not distracting you while you work.

The Weyrdlets feature a pomodoro timer, notifications, and to-do list to help with productivity. They also earn coins just by existing. Use coins to purchase toys, items, and furniture to dress them up and furnish their little island homes.

In addition to desktop play, players can swap to their pets’ homes. The little islands feature houses, toys, and playground equipment for your Weyrdlet to interact with.

To celebrate the launch, players can redeem the code LAUNCHDAY for a special gift. Click on settings, and the Redeem Code button under the General tab to enter.

Since the demo released earlier this year, the developers have updated the UI, added new cat-like creature Gyoza, and included a multiplayer lobby. By sharing friend codes, players can hang out with their pets in a shard space.

Note that as a free game, Werydlets includes microtransactions and in-game purchases.
