Developer Super Evil Megacorp announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate will feature four-player local co-op when it launches on Switch on July 17 (and Steam PC later this year).

TMNT games are practically synonymous with local co-op. But Splintered Fate is a bit different than the usual Turtles beat ’em ups.

Originally released last year exclusively on Apple Arcade, Splintered Fate is an isometric roguelike action game.

Master Splinter is kidnapped by Shredder, prompting the Turtles to hop through strange portals that lead to randomized enemies, locations, and power-ups. Each turtle has their own specialty moves, unlocking more abilities and upgrades as they survive enemy encounters.

The Switch version will also include a graphical overhaul over the iOS version, as well as newly optimized controls.

“We’ve been listening to the community and their biggest request has been the addition of couch co-op so they can play with friends and family,” said Ian Fielding, Studio Head, Super Evil Megacorp. “Playing together is embedded in the DNA of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle video games and core to SEMC’s mission, and with Splintered Fate, we went the extra mile to ensure the co-op feature was available for the Switch immediately at launch. We will continue to listen to the community and improve the game overtime based on player feedback.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is out on Nintendo Switch on July 17. It’s rated E10+ with Fantasy Violence.
