During the Summer Game Fest 2024 showcase, Sega announced Sonic X Shadow Generations will release on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox on October 25 ($49.99).

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a 2-in-1 game bundle. It includes an all-new game, Shadow Generations, as well as a remaster of the original 2011 Sonic Generations.

The Generations series is a celebration of Sonic games throughout the years. Sonic Generations combines 3D and 2D platforming gameplay through remade Sonic levels, from the original 1991 2D adventure up through Sonic adventures of the 2000s.

Shadow Generations is the same concept, but for villain-turned-antihero Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow didn’t appear until 2001’s Sonic Adventure 2, but quickly became a fan-favorite as a darker clone of Sonic.

Shadow Generations features levels from Sonic Adventures 2, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Since Shadow mostly appears in 3D platformers, so too is the new hub world for Shadow Generations, inspired by the 3D open-world of Sonic Frontiers. By gaining new powers, Shadow can unlock new areas and discover hidden secrets.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is available in standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The Digital Deluxe Edition ($59.99) includes a three-day head start (Oct 22), digital soundtrack and art book, and an additional DLC level and skin for Shadow, releasing later this year.

All pre-orders will receive the Legacy Skin for Modern Sonic as a pre-order bonus. PlayStation users will also receive bonus extended prologue animations.

Sonic X Shadow Generations will release October 25. It’s rated E10+.
