During the January 2024 State of Play, Sony Interactive and developer Shift Up announced Stellar Blade (formerly Project Eve) is launching on April 26 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive ($69.99).

Watch the 6-min (!) new gameplay trailer above.

Stellar Blade looks inspired by the Bayonetta and Nier Automata school of hotties in over-the-top action games.

In fact, the story setup is quite similar to Nier.

The world has been destroyed by an invading force, leaving humanity surviving on an off-world colony. As a special agent, Eve and her squadron are deployed to battle the Naytiba and take back Earth. On Earth, Eve and company will discover the surviving human city of Xion, and work to earn their trust.

The world of Stellar Blade is “semi open-world,” which typically refers to large individual zones. Eve can collect gears, exospines, and exp to unlock new skills and upgrades. And judging by the trailer, there are tons of costumes and cosmetic options.

Pre-orders begin February 7, and include the Planet Diving Suit, Round Glasses, and Ear Armor Earrings costume pieces. In addition to the standard edition, a Digital Deluxe Edition includes Stargazer outfits for Eve, Adam, Lilly, and the drone, as well as 2,000 exp and 5,000 in-game gold to get started.

Stellar Blade has not yet been rated by the ESRB, but is “likely Mature.”
