During Gamescom 2023, miHoYo revealed a new trailer for Zenless Zone Zero, showcasing updates made to the free-to-play game since the closed beta began last year.

MiHoYo is best known for Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, which make up the HoYoverse series that feature vibrant anime art styles, high quality voice acting, and welcome free-to-play gacha collection and gameplay.

Zenless Zone Zero takes place in a modern-day setting, described as urban fantasy, in the city of New Eridu. The game structure looks reminiscent of Persona, as players play as regular people living day to day lives, while engaging in supernatural combat. Also, some pretty spiffy music.

“We want to picture a world with our unique view for art style and action experience, but at the same time a world where players could resonate with their own”, said Zhenyu Li, producer. “And now, we are more than thrilled to share that we are close to the next stage of Zenless Zone Zero.”

Zenless Zone Zero is still in development, and looking to launch sometime in 2024, first on PC and mobile devices.

In the rest of the HoYoverse, Genshin Impact recently received a huge 4.0 update in its third year, adding the fifth nation, Fontaine, to the region.

Honkai: Star Rail released earlier this year on PC and mobile, and is due out on PlayStation 5 soon, with a Technical Test beginning Aug. 23. New character Fu Xuan, the Master Diviner of Divination Commission, is coming soon.
