Ark: Dinosaur Discovery is a kid-friendly spin-off of the popular survival-crafting game, Ark: Survival Evolved. Grove Street Games, along with Studio Wildcard, recently released a major content update for the educational adventure.

The update adds three new features. An entirely new map can now be accessed from the bookshelf, unlocking more island exploration. Teleporters can now also be activated to help zip around to previously explored zones. Finally, players now have the ability to summon a previously tamed, ridable creature via the new Whistle button.

The update also improves overall creature animations. Examples in the press release include Smilodons running, Pteranodons landing, and Procoptodons jumping. And of course, there’s the usual list of bug fixes.

Ark: Dinosaur Discovery is a simplified, kid-friendly game that can be played with a single Joy-Con controller. Kids (and adults) can explore the islands, interact with dinosaurs, learn prehistoric facts, and unlock illustrated Dino Books, without any violence or danger.

Dinosaur Discovery is exclusively available on Nintendo Switch and rated E for Everyone.

Ark: Survival Evolved, and its many expansion packs, is available on PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and mobile devices, and it’s rated T for Teen.
