Nearly two decades later, Tales fans are getting a remaster of one of the best games in the series. Tales of Symphonia Remastered is available now on PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Tales of Symphonia is a real-time action JRPG that stars Lloyd, who soon sets out on a journey to save his world of Silvarant. Silvarant and another world are destined to crash into each other. By gathering a group of powerful allies and embracing their destiny can they save both worlds.

The remaster features enhanced graphics and improved gameplay. In a rarity for a JRPG, up to four people can play together in local co-op during combat, each controlling a different party member.

Tales of Symphonia originally released in 2004 in North America, on the Nintendo GameCube. For many gamers (including me!), it was their first experience with the Tales series, which had been around since the 90s. The Tales series now includes over a dozen entries, through some never ship outside Japan.

As with Final Fantasy, each RPG in the series tells an independent story with different characters and worlds, but share art styles, themes, and the real-time battle system.

The most recent game in the series, Tales of Arise, released in 2021, and is pretty darn good.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered is rated T for Teen.
