Publisher 505 Games and developer Racoon Logic announced that Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 14.

Players who already own Journey to the Savage Planet on PlayStation or Xbox will be able to download the new version for free. As it’s a separate game client, save files will not carry over.

Journey to the Savage Planet is a first-person adventure set on a colorful, alien planet called ARY-26. The world and writing are inspired by classic sci-fi adventure stories, along with a heavy dose of cheeky humor.

The gameplay is mostly metroidvania: as the player catalogs the various plants and animals of the world, they’ll unlock new equipment that can reach new areas, such as bombs, jetpacks, and grappling hooks, and new weapons to defeat hostile enemies. It also supports two player co-op.

The Employee of the Month Edition upgrades the original 2020 game with 4K support, 60 FPS (30 FPS on XBS), and new in-game ads and chats with Martin Tweed. It also includes the Hot Garbage DLC.

Journey to the Savage Planet became tied to the ill-fated Google Stadia when the original developer, Typhoon Studios, was acquired by Google. On the day the game was released on Stadia, Google shut down all of its internal Stadia studios. Typhoon Studios established a new studio, Racoon Logic, and were able to retain the IP rights to Journey to the Savage Planet.

Hopefully we’re still getting a sequel, as the game is absolutely fantastic.

Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition will launch on PS5 and XBX on February 14. The base game (plus DLC) is also available on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. It’s rated T for Teen.
