Marvel’s Avengers patch 2.7 adds a new playable character to the roster: The Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes, aka Captain America’s former friend and comrade.
In the world of Marvel’s Avengers, AIM Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini has captured Bucky, using him as her personal assassin. But with the help of the Avengers, the Winter Soldier is freed, and joins their cause to battle his former tormenters.
As a trained soldier and assassin, Bucky excels at hand-to-hand combat, as well as medium-range attacks with his guns. By parrying attacks, he can unleash an explosive shockwave from his cybernetic arm. His rifle attacks can be modified for three-round bursts, full auto spread, or armor-piercing rounds.
Bucky is the sixth post-launch character added to the game, bringing the total playable roster up to 12. All characters were added via free updates, though Spider-Man remains exclusive to PlayStation platforms.
Also included in 2.7 is a new four player Omega-Level Threat Mission. Cloning Lab is an endgame, 175-power level challenge as the team attempts to stop Monica from harnessing the power of MODOK.
Marvel’s Avengers is available on PC (Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox. It’s rated T for Teen.
