Double Fine Productions and Xbox Game Studios have partnered with iam8bit and Skybound Games to produce a physical retail edition of Psychonauts 2. The Motherlobe Edition is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S ($69.99).
The Motherlobe Edition comes in a spiffy lenticular outer sleeve and reversible cover sheet. The package includes a set of six double-sided art cards (including concept art) and six die-cut stickers. A code with a digital download of behind-the-scenes videos is also included.
Psychonauts 2 is the long-awaited 3D platforming sequel to the original cult classic. It stars Raz, a young Psychonaut with the power to delve into people’s minds to solve their mental problems and find answers.
“Anyone with a brain will want to get their hands on this edition, and I’m not just saying that because I happen to have one,” said Tim Schafer, Founder, Double Fine Productions. “The teams at Double Fine and iam8bit really worked hard to keep Raz in mind when creating the physical elements of this edition and incorporating all the things that fans cherished about the game. And we even wanted to bring you into our thought process and show unreleased materials that are really something special to maintaining Raz’s legacy.”
Coming later this year is the Collector’s Edition ($129). The Collector’s Edition will come in a premium keepsake box and include all three soundtrack volumes. It’s still available for pre-order.
