IMAX Corporation announced a partnership with Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards (both produced by Geoff Keighley) to bring live gaming showcases to IMAX theatres in the US, Canada, and the UK.

This year’s Summer Game Fest kicks off June 9 in Los Angeles, California. The “fan-first celebration” has become a defacto replacement for E3, with new game announcements, trailers, concerts, and interviews. This year will also feature the return of Day of the Devs. Co-produced by Double Fine and iam8bit, Day of the Devs provides a platform for new indie games from diverse creators.

Expect major gaming events throughout the month of June, including the Xbox + Bethesda showcase on June 12.

Tickets for Summer Game Fest will go on sale on May 12.

The ninth annual The Game Awards are coming in December. The Game Awards are a slightly more serious celebration of the games of the year, nominated by developers, publishers, media, and fans. Of course, The Game Awards also features its share of big announcements and new trailers.

“Video games are the most powerful, immersive and spectacular form of entertainment in the world, so it’s only natural to bring them to fans in IMAX, the world’s most immersive cinema format,” said Geoff Keighley, producer, The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest.
