For the first time since 2019, Pokémon GO players can look forward to gathering with other trainers this summer during Pokémon GO Fest. Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will first manifest as a global event that will take place Saturday, June 4 to Sunday, June 5.

Afterwards, trainers will be able to gather in select cities for the in-person events. The in-person events will roll out in the following cities:

  • Berlin, Germany, Friday July 1 to Sunday July 3.
  • Seattle, WA, Friday, July 22 to Sunday July 24.
  • Sapporo, Japan, August 5 to August 7.

The “global event” probably refers to a virtual event. For the past two years, Pokémon GO has hosted ticketed virtual events that include exclusive Pokémon, raids, and research projects.

The move to a virtual format was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But it was successful enough that the publisher wants to include the virtual format, in addition to returning to in-person events.

Pokémon GO released in 2016. The first GO Fest took place in Chicago, IL in 2017 as a mass gathering of players. It was a bit of a disaster, but things have improved in the years since.

Ticket prices, rewards, and activities for Pokémon GO Fest 2022 have yet to be announced. Last year’s virtual ticket prices were $5. Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
