Rare and Microsoft announced a collaboration between Disney to bring their Pirates of the Caribbean series into multiplayer pirate game Sea of Thieves.

The result is Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life, adding Captain Jack Sparrow in an all-new adventure as a free update coming to Sea of Thieves season 3 on June 22.

A Pirate’s Life campaign begins with freeing Jack Sparrow and helping him recover the worlds’ greatest treasure while avoiding an untimely fate by the villainous Davy Jones.

Walt Disney Games and Rare have created an original story featuring familiar characters and foes from the adventure film series, as well as the original ride attraction the series is based on.

“The heart of our story explores what it truly means to be a pirate on the Sea of Thieves, and this has allowed us not only to tap into the deeper meaning of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and the original attraction, but also allow players to go on adventures with Jack Sparrow, learning more about how he sees the pirate life and his place on the Sea of Thieves,” said Mike Chapman, creative director, Rare. “This story moves the Sea of Thieves world forwards in unexpected ways, and it’s been a joy to bring these two worlds together, treating both in a way that feels authentic and delightful to experience.”

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life will be added as a free update to existing players on June 22 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Sea of Thieves is rated T for Teen.
