Pyra and Mythra have arrived as the latest DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Switch. The 2-in-1 fighter is part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 ($29.99), which also includes Min Min, Minecraft Steve, and Sephiroth, or can be purchased separately as Challenger Pack 9 ($5.99).

“With the addition of Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, fans are getting a two-in-one fighter that adds new layers of strategy to their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gameplay,” said Nick Chavez, Senior Vice President, Nintendo of America. “And since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is also on Nintendo Switch, fans who love the fast-paced action of Pyra and Mythra in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate can dive into that sprawling adventure to learn more about the origin of these unique fighters.”

Pyra isn’t the main protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. She’s actually a Blade, a sentient weapon wielded by the main character, Rex. Later in the game, a second personality is unlocked within Pyra, called Mythra.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the two exist as a single fighter that can be swapped in the middle of battle, similar to how Zelda and Sheik used to work before being separated as different fighters. Pyra emphasizes raw power, while Mythra is built for speed.

Challenger Pack 9 also adds a new stage, the Cloud Sea of Alrest, which features familiar sights to the RPG such as airships and titans. The DLC also includes 16 new songs, adding to the three already included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Alongside the Challenger Pack are new paid Mii Fighter costumes, including the Rathalos armor from Monster Hunter, and Arthur’s armor from Ghosts ‘n Goblins, which recently received a remake on Switch.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available on Switch.
