During the online-only PAX Online digital convention, Sega released a trailer showing the new adventure mode for upcoming puzzle sequel, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. The sequel is launching December 8 on PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with PlayStation 5 releasing later this Holiday.

The sequel features a brand new story mode that brings together the colorful cast of characters like Ringo and Tee. Our heroes will need to journey through the world, popping Puyos and clearing Tetriminos to rescue their friends from the mysterious Dimensional Parasite. Wait, are Tetris pieces called Tetriminos? Adventure Mode features a new overworld map to explore, mission objectives, and a progression system during skill battles. In skill battles players can earn experience, level up their characters, and try different difficulty levels. Players can also earn item cards that grants special abilities in skill battles, as well as more characters, backgrounds, and stages.

Physical launch edition pre-orders are available now, for $39.99. Pre-orders will also include a special item cards from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is coming December 8 on PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. It supports free upgrades to next-gen console edition (Xbox One to Xbox Series X). PlayStation 5 and PC versions will be available later this year.
