Nintendo continues to release free seasonal updates and events for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The first summer update arrives July 3, adding the ability to swim and dive for sea creatures, along with some mermaid-themed furniture.

Swimming is an entirely new feature coming to Animal Crossing. Beginning July 3, players will be able to change into a diving suit and swim off the coast of their island. New sea creatures like sea stars and eels can be discovered while diving in the water and brought to Blathers in the museum.

To acquire the new mermaid-themed furniture, you’ll need to collect scallops while in the water. You can trade scallops to Pascal, who will reward you with a new DIY recipe.

New Horizons players are already very familiar with Gulliver, the bird who frequently washes up on shore with a a collection task. During the summer update, Gulliver will be dressed as a pirate, and feature a special reward if you complete his quest.

A final summer update is coming in early August. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch. It’s rated E for Everyone.
