XSeed Games and Marvelous have released an enhanced version of Rune Factory 4. Rune Factory 4 Special is now available on Nintendo Switch in physical and digital releases, for $39.99.

Rune Factory 4 originally released in 2012 on Nintendo 3DS as the latest in the life sim and farming series. It’s similar to the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games, as well as Stardew Valley. Players grow crops, craft equipment, cook meals, socialize with townsfolk, and delve into dungeons.

A hallmark feature of the series is being able to date and marry from a pool of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes and have a child together, and then equip that child with gear and journey into dungeons together. Got to start them early, I suppose.

The enhanced Special edition features upgraded HD graphics and a new Newlywed Mode that lets you adventure with your spouse. New cinematics have also been added, as well as an updated opening cinematic.

A fancy Archival Edition is also available for $59.99, and includes a 160-page art book, a 36-track soundtrack CD, and Swimsuit Day DLC that includes an option to put all the characters in swimsuits.

Rune Factory 4 Special is rated T for Teen with Fantasy Violence, Language, Mild Suggestive themes, and Alcohol use.
