Nintendo has revealed their schedule for E3 2019, which takes place June 11 – 13 in Los Angeles, CA. Their show presence will include tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2, as well as a Nintendo Direct broadcast and Treehouse live stream. Nintendo will also offer its own version of the fast pass – the Warp Pipe Pass.
“We’re starting with some heated competitions and delivering new content the whole week,” said Doug Bowser, president, Nintendo of America. “Whether people are attending the show in person or watching from home, our goal is to provide them with the best possible Nintendo experience.”
Nintendo typically kicks off the official E3 convention by airing first thing in the morning on the first day, and this year will be no different. The Nintendo Direct will air at 9 am Pacific/12 pm Eastern on June 11. Nintendo is keeping coy about the details, but the broadcast will focus on software launching in the second half of the year.
As in previous years, the Nintendo Direct broadcast will be followed by the Nintendo Treehouse: Live event. The live stream is hosted by Nintendo staff directly from the E3 booth as they play through games on the show floor and interview developers.
Nintendo will also host the championship tournament rounds for its two biggest competitive games on the Switch. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Championship and the Splatoon 2 World Championship will take place on Saturday, June 8. Fans can line up to attend live beginning at 8 am Pacific at The Theatre at Ace Hotel. Entry is free but badges are first-come, first-served. Doors open at 10 am and the tournaments are scheduled to begin at 11 am, with Splatoon 2 first followed by Smash Bros. They will also be streamed live via Nintendo’s E3 live feed.
Nintendo’s new Warp Pipe Pass works exactly like a fast pass from a theme park. Attendees can grab a Warp Pipe Pass with a scheduled time, giving them priority to jump ahead in line when their time arrives. Note that to gain a Warp Pipe Pass a Nintendo Account will be required.
