Middle-earth: Shadow of War launches today for PC (Steam, Windows 10), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One. It will feature Xbox One X enhancements on that console’s release on November 7.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War was developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It’s a sequel to 2014’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, which was well-received and won over 50 gaming awards.

“We worked incredibly hard to massively expand Middle-earth: Shadow of War in every dimension, including the open world, the story, the RPG systems, the core gameplay and of course the personal player stories created through the expanded Nemesis System,” said Michael de Plater, VP at Monolith Productions. “As lifelong fans of all things Middle-earth, we are so grateful to have the privilege to bring to life the most incredible fantasy world ever, reimagined in a fresh way for fans and newcomers. We can’t wait to see the amazing stories players are going to create and share once they experience all that Middle-earth: Shadow of War has to offer.”

Like the first game, Shadow of War is an Action RPG starring Talion, a ranger of Gondor. He also happens to share his body with the elf lord Celebrimbor. The plot takes place in between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, as Talion aims to disrupt Sauron’s rise to power.

The highly praised Nemesis System has been expanded from Shadow of Mordor. Now you can recruit defeated orcs as followers. The Nemesis System has also been grafted onto fortresses, creating a uniquely personalized world.

“With Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Monolith Productions has advanced its innovative artificial intelligence technology, the Nemesis System, to create a gameplay experience unlike any other,” said David Haddad, President at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Players of Middle-earth: Shadow of War will encounter a totally personalized world that remembers their every move, which, along with a compelling story, should greatly please fans and new players.”

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is available in a standard edition, Silver Edition, and Gold Edition. The Silver Edition includes the Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion, Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion, and Silver War Chest. The Gold Edition includes all that, plus The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion, The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion, and a Gold War Chest.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is rated M for Mature for Blood and Gore and Intense Violence. It’s available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
