Naked Norman Reedus!

Now that I have your attention, check out the trailer for Death Stranding. It’s the first game made by newly formed Kojima Productions since legendary designer Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) left Konami last year. It also totally features a naked Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead).

Hideo Kojima made an unexpected appearance at the PlayStation E3 press conference to announce his new game. “I’m back,” he smiled as the audience cheered. Then he revealed the trailer for Death Stranding.

The mysterious and eerie trailer featured Reedus waking up on a dark beach littered with dead sea life. A newborn (complete with umbilical cord) cried nearby. He cradled it, only to have the baby disappear into oily nothing. We were treated to the patented Reedus Squint as he looked up at five shadowy figures floating in the distance.

I had absolutely no idea what was going on, but I’m intrigued. Reedus’s involvement is interesting given his prior commitment to the cancelled Silent Hill game with film director Guillermo del Toro. No word yet if Death Stranding has any official ties to that game. It would definitely be cool if Kojima was able to salvage it (which looks to be the case). The official website has several Making Of pictures with Reedus wearing motion capture devices.

No release date for Death Stranding was given.
