Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots will be this year’s cover athlete for Madden NFL 17‘s cover. He was revealed as the cover athlete during the May 12 episode of SportCenter on ESPN.

“It’s great to finally be able to share with the world that Gronk will be joining our cover fraternity,” said Josh Rabenovets, Senior Director of Global Marketing at EA SPORTS in an official release. “He’s one of the most fun, dominant and exciting players in the league, and it’s awesome to feature the famed Gronk Spike on the Madden NFL 17 cover.”

Gronkowski is a tight end and holds the season record for most touchdowns by a tight end. He also participated in the Pro Bowl four times and won the Super Bowl with his team during the 2014 season.

“It’s a really special honor to appear on the cover of Madden NFL 17,” said Gronkowski. “It’s one of those things that pretty much every guy in the league secretly dreams of, so to actually be the one on the cover, it’s a really big deal.”

Besides Gronkowski’s announcement, EA also revealed the first gameplay trailer for the game. You can watch that above. Madden NFL 17 is scheduled for release on August 23. Members of EA Access will get to try the game before it’s released.
