One of the most anticipated games of the year is already out in January. Monster Hunter: World is out today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s the first simultaneous global launch for the 40-million selling series. The first ever PC version is due out this fall. Watch the new launch trailer above.

Monster Hunter: World has been designed to be the most accessible game in the popular but notoriously obtuse series. The story centers around the Elder Crossing, a once-in-a-decade migration of the elder dragons. You play as a hunter working for the Guild’s Research Commission, and follow the dragons to a new land called the New World.

Along the way hunters take on quests to explore map areas and slay dangerous monsters, using the environment to hunt, trap, and fight. Monster parts can be harvested to craft more powerful gear, and hunters can choose between 14 different weapon styles.

Monster Hunter: World also features seamless online cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. For the first time the series, players can join up from around the world regardless of region, and even drop-in mid-quest.

Capcom promises a host of free post-launch content, beginning with a PlayStation 4 exclusive collaboration with Horizon Zero Dawn. Starting today through February 8 players can embark on a unique quest to transform their Palico ally into a machine from Horizon Zero Dawn. On February 28 a special event quest will let players transform into Aloy herself by crafting her signature bow and armor. The first major content update will arrive Spring 2018, adding the Deviljo monster.

Monster Hunter: World is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s been rated T for Teen for Blood, Alcohol, Violence, and Mild Language.
