Versus Evil and Obsidian Entertainment have announced the release date for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Pillars of Eternity 2 will launch April 3 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Pre-orders are now available.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is the sequel to 2015’s Pillars of Eternity, the first crowdfunded RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. Their goal was to make a classic tactical computer RPG from the Golden Age of the late 90s and early 2000s, and they mostly succeeded. Pillars 2 was funded via video game investment site Fig, raising $4.4 million, over 400% of their funding goal.
“Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is our first sequel here at Obsidian and we’ve created something incredible,” said Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart. “At Obsidian, we are all about stories, worlds, and characters, and in Deadfire we’ve done it again with a vast open world explorable by the player’s own customizable ship, character customization with enough options to make any RPG player want to make a hundred characters, and an exciting narrative that truly delivers on the reactivity that makes our games special. We’re confident that new and returning players will find Deadfire to be the RPG experience of the year.”
Pillars of Eternity 2 is available in three editions. The Standard Edition contains the game for $49.99. A Deluxe Edition ($59.99) also includes the soundtrack and several digital goodies including an in-game pet, RPG starter guide, and a digital guide book.
The Obsidian Edition comes in digital and physical versions. The digital version is priced at $74.99, and includes everything in the Deluxe version plus the first three DLC expansions. The physical Obsidian Edition costs $79.99 and also include a physical cloth map of the region, a notepad, and a set of postcards.
Pre-ordering any version of Pillars of Eternity 2 nets three in game rewards, St. Drogga’s Skull, Beakhead the hawk, and a Black Flag for your ship.
