The dinosaur-filled world of ARK: Survival World is getting festive with a seasonal Winter Wonderland holiday event. The event is live now on every single and multiplayer server. Look up in the sky between midnight and 2 am in game time to find Raptor Claus flying overhead in his sleigh, dropping down high-level loot, as well as mistletoe and coal.
This year adds his partner Gacha Claus, who roams the land in a Santa-themed outfit. Gacha Claus cannot be tamed and spawns as a Parasaur with holiday colors and a Santa Hat.
You can give Gacha Claus the coal and he will exchange it for holiday-themed items. Items include holiday lights, Christmas trees, stockings, and snowman to bring some festive cheer to your homes.
You can also trade in mistletoe to Gacha Claus for weapons and armor. There’s a random chance that Gacha Claus will reward you with a special dino holiday candy, which can give a dinosaur a festive makeover.
During the event all dinosaurs have a 20% chance of spawning with holiday colors.
The event comes with a patch that includes lots of balance changes and fixes. Find the full patch notes here.
The Winter Wonderland event is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It ends January 7, 2019. ARK: Survival Evolved is rated T for Teen.

If you’ve lapsed, or haven’t yet tried one of the biggest games of the year, now is a lucrative time to jump in. To further celebrate their Winter Event, Overwatch is giving out five free Winter Loot Boxes, just for logging in. You’ll have to do it before January 2nd, when the Winter Event ends.
The Winter Loot Boxes contain special unique loot that’s only available during the Winter Event. This includes unique new Winter and Holiday-themed skins for many characters. These skins, as always, are among the rarest loot.
Overwatch is also on sale right now, both digitally via Battle.net Shop and physically at Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy. It’s discounted to $29.99, while the Origins Edition is $39.99. The Origins Edition is useful for fans of other Blizzard games, as it comes with a collection of digital goodies such as a Hearthstone Overwatch card back and a Baby Winston pet for World of Warcraft. It also includes five unique skins for Overwatch characters.
The Winter Event is the third Seasonal Event that Blizzard has run this year. Events include new loot and new Arcade mini-games. The Winter Event presents Mei’s Snowball Offensive, in which everyone plays Mei and hurls snowballs at each other.
Blizzard’s hero shooter has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. Overwatch has earned numerous Game of the Year accolades from prominent gaming sites, including here at Pixelkin. Stephen called it “a brilliantly designed game that is possessed of a level of polish that is rarely seen in games today.”
Two weeks ago Pokémon GO kicked off a limited Holiday Update that added Pikachus wearing Santa hats, as well as a few select Pokémon from the second generation games. Niantic recently announced they are expanding the Update in two different ways. The first will reward free egg-hatching incubators, while the second sees an increased chance to finding the original Gen 1 starters and their evolutions.
“As the year draws to a close, we want to give you a great way to celebrate the end of the year with Pokémon GO,” states the press release. “For the next couple of weeks, you’ll have even more reason to explore the world with your friends and family while you enjoy our year-end event.”
Running right now through January 3, 2017 (“afternoon PST”), you can earn a free single use incubator each day upon visiting a PokéStop. This is a huge boon since incubators are limited use. All the newly added Gen 2 Pokémon like Togepi and Pichu can only be found by hatching eggs.
The Update also adds “a greater chance of finding [Gen 2] Eggs.” If you’re like me and have played Pokémon GO every day and still haven’t found a Santa-sporting Pikachu, Niantic is keeping them around longer as well, and increasing their spawn rate.
The second update hits on December 30 and runs through January 8, 2017 (“afternoon PST”). During this period the original Kanto starters, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, and all their evolutions will see an increase to their spawn rate. These are some of the rarest and most sought after Pokémon.
As an added bonus, Lure Modules during this time will last 60 minutes instead of the usual 30. Gotta Catch More of ‘Em!
