Four years after launching on PC, PlayStation, and mobile devices, HoYoverse and Cognosphere have finally released Genshin Impact on Xbox Series X/S.

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play RPG that combines Breath of the Wild’s open world and colorful art style with an anime Gacha RPG. It launched in 2020 and blew up the mobile game market, putting a console-like experience on mobile devices (and also even better on consoles/PC).

“Gacha” means players work to build up in-game currency (or purchase it outright) to pull on banners for a chance to receive their favorite characters. Players build their party of four characters as they explore the ever-expanding world in real-time.

To date, Genshin features over 90 playable characters, though most rare heroes are only available for a limited time.

Since launch, HoYoverse has added several new regions, each with their own quests, characters, enemies, and dungeons, more than doubling the size of the original release.

The sixth nation, Natlan, has been particularly well-received, featuring cool Saurian mounts that enhance movement in fun new ways.

Xbox players can enjoy HDR support and 4K resolution. Once reaching Adventure Rank 2, Xbox players will also receive the special Wings of Fate’s Course Intertwined gift in their mailbox.

Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive recurring rewards with each major version update (about once a year), including when they first login:

  • Intertwined Fate ×2
  • Northlander Billet Trove ×1
  • Hero’s Wit ×10
  • Mora ×100,000
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore ×15

Genshin Impact is designed for single-player, but supports up to four player online co-op. Thee free-to-play RPG is also available on PC, PlayStation, and mobile platforms, and supports cross-play and cross-progression. It’s rated T for Teen.
