Electronic Arts and BioWare have released highly anticipated RPG four-quell, Dragon Age: The Veilguard (formerly Dreadwolf). Veilguard is out now on PC (Steam, Epic, EA), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Veilguard is the fourth game in the series, and the first new Dragon Age game since 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The series is set in Thedas, a fantasy world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. In s surprise twist at the end of Inquisition, party member Solas revealed himself as the Dread Wolf, an ancient elven god. He wants to restore his people to their former glory. Then things go wrong.

As with previous games in the character-driven RPG series, the player creates a fully customizable character named Rook. Rook becomes a pivotal force in the world, gathering allies and uniting factions against powerful enemies.

The series has steadily left its more hardcore tactical RPG roots behind in favor of more action-based gameplay, where the action is fast-paced and party members are active abilities to unleash combos. Basically, Mass Effect.

“On behalf of everyone at BioWare, I want to thank you for joining us on our latest adventure,” said Gary McKay, Vice President/General Manager, BioWare. “After years of careful planning, countless hours of expert work, and innumerable design decisions, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is ready. We are so proud of this achievement and excited to see its impact on our worldwide community of fans, without whom none of this would be possible. We hope you have just as much fun in your own Rook adventure as we did creating it.”

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is available in Standard ($69.99) and Deluxe Editions ($79.99). The Deluxe Edition includes cosmetic sets for Rook and all the companions.

The RPG series is rated M for Mature, with Blood, Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Violence.
