Big Fan Games (Devolver Digital) along with Bithell Games and Disney Games, announced a new TRON video game — Disney TRON: Catalyst. Catalyst will launch in 2025 on PC and consoles.

Disney TRON: Catalyst stars new character Exo, a program with the power to create time loops, known as the Glitch. Take that, Vanellope von Schweetz!

The story is set in the Arq Grid, first seen in previous TRON game TRON: Identity (Bithell Games). Whereas Tron: Identity was more of a visual novel, TRON: Catalyst looks like a top-down action game.

When Exo gains her newfound time-powers, she gains the freedom to explore the digital city while escaping from the “Peacekeepers” of a villainous agent.

Expect Light Cycles for travel and battles with Identity Discs as Exo works to save her crumbling world.

Composer Dan Le Sac from TRON: Identity also returns in a series known for sweet techno beats.

I think the TRON series is kind of lame, and the original film has aged terribly, but there are plenty of TRON fans out there. Maybe there’s still some potential with neon colors and Frisbee-combat.

Disney TRON: Catalyst will release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
