Thunderful Games has released SteamWorld Heist 2 for PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox ($29.99).

SteamWorld Heist 2 is a tactical-RPG set in SteamWorld’s memorable world of steampunk robots. Whereas the first game starred a crew of space pirates, this new team looks firmly terrestrial, exploring the high seas in their nautical ship.

Led by Captain Quincy Leeway, the crew of Steambots explores the seas, takes on missions, and investigates a deadly water crisis.

Combat plays out like 2D XCOM, with each unit having limited mobility and actions, as well as unique skills and weapons. Crew members can acquire over 150 guns, items, and ship equipment to improve their prowess.

The Heist series is known for its fun ricochet mechanics. Players can aim their bullets along a bouncing path to hit precise targets.

“With SteamWorld Heist 2, we were able to enhance all of the features that players loved from the original and expand on that with open-world exploration and a job system that offers endless strategy opportunities,” said Brjánn Sigurgeirsson, Franchise Director. “We’re overwhelmed by the positive response to the game so far and are thrilled that players around the world now have a chance to play.”

We’re big fans of the SteamWorld games. They feature a consistent quality and tone, while covering a wide range of genres and gameplay styles.

Steamworld Heist 2 is rated E10+, with Fantasy Violence.
