During the recent June Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, an all-new Zelda game, and it actually stars Princess Zelda!

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will release on Nintendo Switch on September 26.

Perhaps it should be The Legend of Link, then?

When Link disappears after rifts appear throughout Hyrule, it’s up to Princess Zelda to take charge and rescue her people.

But Zelda doesn’t simply pick up a sword. The fairy Tri bestows a magic wand called the Tri Rod. Using the Tri Rod, Zelda can save echoes of objects and monsters, and create them whenever she wants.

Table echoes can be used to scale walls, trees can block water, and monster echoes can defeat other monsters. It’s completely new gameplay we haven’t seen before in a Zelda game, and reminiscent of the creativity from Zonai devices in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The engine and retro isometric art style looks similar to the Link’s Awakening remake, which released on Switch in 2019.

Echoes of Wisdom will release alongside a new gold-colored Switch Lite: Hyrule Edition. Inspired by the Zelda series, the Switch Lite features the Hylian Crest, and includes a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Many classic Zelda games are available with the subscription, including The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2, A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time, and Majora’s Mask.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is rated E10+.
