During The Game Awards 2023, 505 games and developer Avantgarden announced a remake of the critically acclaimed co-op adventure, Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons. It’s releasing February 28, 2025 on PC (Steam, Epic, GoG), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The remake recreates the 3D puzzle-adventure with the updated visuals of Unreal Engine 5, and adds the ability to play in local co-op with two players controlling each of the brothers.
Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons was originally developed by Starbreeze Studios with then-game director Josef Fares in 2013. It became a big hit thanks to its unique control scheme (each brother was controlled by a different thumbstick) and focus on an emotional narrative.
Fares went on to found Hazelight Studios and produce A Way Out and It Takes Two, both well received co-op adventures.
The remake of Brothers is being handled by a different studio, but Avantgarden has received Fares’ endorsement on the project.
“It is a privilege to see new life coming into Brothers” said Fares, “Avantgarden have done a great job to bring this story back for a new generation to experience.”
Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons Remake will arrive February 28, 2025. It’s rated T for Teen.
