The Game Awards 2022 announced over 100 nominations in over 30 categories. The ninth annual The Game Awards will stream on December 8 live from Microsoft Theater in Lost Angeles.

Recently released sequel God of War Ragnarok headlines this year’s show, with 10 nominations, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and appearing twice in the Best Performance category (Christopher Judge and Sunny Suljic).

Other Game of the Year nominees include Elden Ring, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

This year was huge for gaming, with highly anticipated games Elden Ring, God of War, and Horizon easily capable of winning Game of the Year in any past year. The only real shocker is Stray, proving the power of letting people play as a cat.

Sony Interactive was the most nominated publisher with 20 nominations (most of which are God of War and Horizon). Annapurna Interactive and Nintendo tie for second place with 11 nominations each.

This year’s award show adds a new category in Best Adaptation. The category highlights gaming projects in other media, such as television and movies. This year’s inaugural nominees are Arcane: League of Legends, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, The Cuphead Show, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Uncharted.

From now until the award show, fans can vote for their favorites at the official The Game Awards Discord server.

The Game Awards will stream live on December 8 via your favorite social media or streaming website.
