The latest Pokémon Presents aired on Pokémon Day, Feb 27, the anniversary of the release of the original Pokémon Red and Blue in Japan in 1996. The video was stuffed full of news and updates, including announcing the next games in the main series.
Watch the full video above, and read our highlights below.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet
The biggest news is the reveal of the next generation of Pokémon games. In keeping with the 3D evolution of the series, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are true open world RPGs, even more than Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The trailer showcased an all-new region, as well as the three new starter Pokémon. The reveal also gave us a tentative release window with late 2022.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Not to be forgotten, Pokémon Legends: Arceus received its first major update with 1.1. The update, called Daybreak, adds new post-game content for after you finish the story in Arceus. Massive outbreaks are appearing throughout the Hisui region, along with major rainstorms. Rare and legendary Pokémon can be found in these outbreaks, as well as challenging warden battles.
To celebrate Pokémon Day, trainers can enter the password ARCEUSADVENTURE in the Mystery Gifts menu to receive 30 Ultra Balls, 30 Gigaton Balls, and 30 Jet Balls. The Mystery Gift is available until March 31.
Pokémon Unite
The mythical Pokémon Hoopa joined the Unite roster last week. As a psychic/ghost type, Hoopa is a ranged supporter that can help its allies and confound its enemies. A new type of quick battle has also been added, full fury battles. In these matches Pokémon can unleash their moves as often as they want, which sounds delightfully chaotic.
Unite is also celebrating Pokémon Day with special login-in bonuses, and a Pokémon Day Event. Clear all the special challenges and you can receive Hoopa’s license for free. The event lasts for two weeks, until March 11.
Mobile Games
Pokémon Go is finally adding the Alola region Pokémon, first seen in Pokémon Sun and Moon, starting on March 1. Until then players can find Alolan Exeggutor right now.
Pokémon Café ReMix features several limited-time events, including an increased chance of finding Shiny Piplup. Pelipper can now deliver food to Pokémon you haven’t even seen yet, including mythical Pokémon.
Pokémon Masters EX adds new special sync pairs to battle: May & Latias, Skyla & Tornadus, and RAihan & Flyon, all with unique 2022 Anniversary outfits. More bonuses include getting up to one hundred sync pairs by getting the 10-pair scout tickets as free log-in bonuses, as well as a one-time present of 3,000 gems.
