While the biggest news surrounding Blizzard is the huge acquisition by Microsoft, the developer also recently announced their first new IP since 2016’s Overwatch.

The game is still in its early stages — it doesn’t even have a name yet. Blizzard is calling it Unannounced Survival Game. Here’s the brief tease:

Blizzard is embarking on our next quest. We are going on a journey to a whole new universe, home to a brand-new survival game for PC and console. A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored.

The press release then becomes a recruitment ad, as Blizzard looks for new developers to join the team and “help write the next chapter in Blizzard’s story.” Desired positions include character artists, technical artists, level designers, and software engineers.

Aside from this new project, there are two big sequels currently in active development from Blizzard: Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4. Overwatch 2 was announced in 2019, and will feature some significant changes to the PvP mode (including 5v5 instead of 6v6) as well as a persistent co-op mode. It’s being developed for PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.

Diablo 4 was also announced at BlizzCon 2019, and is coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. It will feature Diablo’s signature hack and slash playstyle within an open world structure. Release dates have not been announced for either game, but don’t expect them this year.
