The alien war has ended and the mothership is gone. In its place are the gigantic purple cubes that powered it, and they’ve landed all over the island in Fortnite Season 2 Chapter 8.
The cubes spread corruption throughout the island in the form of gateways to another world, called Sideways Zones. Zones prevent building and feature low gravity.
Sideways Zones are also full of monsters, but you can also earn some sweet weapons if you defeat several waves of monsters. Defeated monsters drop cube monster parts, which can be used to craft and upgrade unique Sideways weapons, such as the Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun. Near the mothership wreckage you’ll also find shadow stone power-ups that transform you into a shadowy ghost.
To fight back, players can complete quests from residents around the island, with new quests available over the coming weeks. Party Quests are also available daily for teams to tackle. Everyone can donate earned Bars to construct turret stations around the island to help combat the cube threat and the Sideways monsters.
The Season 2 Chapter 8 battle pass includes a licensed Carnage skin inspired by the upcoming Venom sequel, along with a fabulously pink horseman and a black and white cartoon fish thing called Toona Fish.
