Shovel Knight indie developers Yacht Club Games announced a new Shovel Knight spin-off: Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. It’s playable for the first time at PAX East, taking place in Boston this weekend.
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is a combination falling block puzzle game and dungeon crawler. Instead of moving the falling pieces, you’ll control the horned knight himself, slaying monsters, looting chests, and even fighting bosses from the original game, like King Knight and Plague Knight.
Ten playable characters from the Shovel Knight universe will be available, with with their own unique powers and play styles. Game modes include a campaign story mode, head-to-head competitive multiplayer, and more.
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is published by Yacht Club Games and developed alongside another indie developer, Vine, creator of Pocket Dungeon.
“Working with Yacht Club has helped us to leverage resources we wouldn’t have access to otherwise, and helped get the game in front of more people. It’s fun to add to the mythos of Shovel Knight, too.”, says Russell Rafferty, developer at Vine and creator of Pocket Dungeon.
Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon does not have a release date nor confirmed platforms, but the demo at PAX East will be playable on Nintendo Switch.
Yacht Club Games also released a new trailer for Cyber Shadow, a Ninja Gaiden-like 2D pixel brawler developed by Meka Skull. Cyber Shadow is releasing this fall on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One, including Xbox Game Pass.
