We’re all eagerly anticipating the arrival of one of the biggest RPGs of the year: Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Square Enix is offering a small taste by releasing the entire opening cinematic movie on YouTube. Watch the full 5+ minute video above, which showcases the city of Midgar, controlled by the Shinra Electric Power Company, as well as protagonist Cloud Strife and prominent characters Aerith and Barret.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a big-budget partial remake of the groundbreaking 1997 RPG, which released on the original PlayStation, and remains one of the most well-regarded and important video games of all time. This partial remake specifically focuses on the opening area of the RPG, the city of Midgar, recreating familiar scenes and events and expanding on others. The remake also features a new battle system that merges real-time action with command-based strategy.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is launching on April 10 exclusively on PlayStation 4. Pre-orders will receive the Chocobo Chick Summon Materia DLC at launch. Pre-ordering via the PSN Store will net a Cloud and Sephiroth Theme, while pre-ordering from the Square Enix Store will get you a themed lanyard and a chance to win a chronograph watch. A deluxe edition is also available that includes art book, soundtrack, and a SteelBook case.
