Square Enix has released a nearly four minute-long trailer showcasing cutscenes and gameplay from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The trailer also reveals the game’s theme song, “Hollow.”
The theme song was written by beloved Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uemtasu, featuring vocals from Yosh from Japanese band, Survive Said The Prophet. A behind the scenes video with interviews from Yosh and Uematsu is also available.
The trailer reveals new footage of characters, boss battles, and events around the city of Midgar. In the original 1997 RPG, Midgar was the opening location and represented only a few hours of game time.
For the remake, Square Enix is expanding Midgar into a full game. Presumably there will be additional Final Fantasy 7 Remake parts or episodes that cover the rest of the meaty RPG, though they have not yet been officially announced.
The remake is described as a “re-imagining of the iconic game,” and features a new hybrid battle system that includes real-time action and strategy.
Square Enix is celebrating the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake with an Orchestra World Tour, beginning June 14 in Los Angeles, CA. The tour will include 10 cities around the world, featuring music form the game’s soundtrack by an orchestra and full chorus, conducted by Grammy winner Arnie Roth.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out April 10 on PlayStation 4. Pre-orders are available now. If you pre-order from the Square Enix store, you will also receive a branded lanyard, and have a chance to win a Final Fantasy 7 chronograph watch.
