One of our favorite games from last year, Dragon Quest 11, is now available on Switch in physical and digital release. The Definitive Edition for Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age S includes the addition of an entire 16-bit visual mode, original Japanese audio, and a choice between symphonic or retro synth music.
In the Definitive Edition, the number of rideable monsters has been expanded, and players can now earn experience if they defeat monsters while mounted.
The Definitive Edition also includes the Champion’s Pack DLC, which includes five costume sets: Vests of Success, Wolf Wear, Baby Boar, Trodain, and Happy Adventurer. The Trodain set allows the hero to dress like the protagonist from Dragon Quest 8.
Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age released in Fall 2018 on PlayStation 4 and PC. The latest entry in the long-running Japanese RPG series was a critical and commercial success, selling four million copies within two months of release. In our review we called it “a nearly perfect RPG, with just the right amount of classic features and modern improvements.”
Dragon Quest’s popularity has recently lead to the unnamed hero of Dragon Quest 11 appearing as the latest DLC hero for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Dragon Quest 11 is rated T for Teen for Crude Humor, Fantasy Violence, Mild Blood, Simulated Gambling, Suggestive Themes, and Use of Alcohol.
