There are many Steam sales throughout the year – it’s one of PC gaming’s highest perks. But none more exciting than the end of the year Steam Winter Sale. It’s the best time to pick up any games you’ve been waiting on. And if you’re getting a new PC or upgrades this holiday, you can kiss your wallet goodbye.
As per the last few years, the Steam sales have scaled down their daily events and mini-games. Now it’s just down to the sale itself, which lasts for ten days, ending January 2nd, 2017.
A number of major 2016 releases are deeply discounted. Highlighted deals for the Steam Winter Sale include:
- Doom (2016) $19.79 (67% off)
- Tom Clancy’s The Division $24.99 (50% off)
- Just Cause 3 $14.99 (75% off)
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided $19.79 (67% off)
- Watch_Dogs 2 $40.19 (33% off)
- Dark Souls III $29.99 (50% off)
- Dishonored 2 $40.19 (33% off)
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition $29.99 (40% off)
The big difference this year is that the Steam Store has received some nice upgrades over the year to help curate the massive influx of games on Steam.
The first thing you’ll see are the highlighted deals, tailored to your gaming preferences. The Steam Store also has a few pre-set lists to browse through, such as “Old School Gems” and “Niche Favorites.” Finally you can earn two trading cards each day that you browse through your Discovery Queue twice, which is a custom list of games Steam thinks you’d be interested in.
Also happening alongside the Steam Winter Sale are the new Steam Awards. Each day of the Winter Sale a new multiple-choice category will be available to vote. Today’s is “Villain Most In Need of a Hug.” Finalists in each category were chosen by the Steam community during the Steam Autumn Sale. Each time you vote you can earn a trading card for The Steam Awards badge.
