The news on Pokémon GO has been a bit drowned out lately. It’s understandable what with Pokémon and Sun and Moon on the way and the bazillion other games being released. But that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been any news on the AR game that blew up over the summer. Here’s some of what you may have missed.
A big update has made some big changes to the game, the biggest of which is probably the daily bonuses. According to a post on the official site, there are more goodies to be found in the game now.
“The daily bonuses reward you with XP and Stardust for your first catch of the day, and XP and extra items for your first Photo Disc spin of the day at a PokéStop. You’ll get an even bigger bonus if you complete these actions seven days in a row! To celebrate this feature, from November 7th to November 11th, you’ll find more Pokémon out in the world. Moreover, PokéStops will grant more items!”
Besides the public update, Niantic CEO John Hanke also told GamesRadar that there’s more to find.
“There will always be secrets in the game that no one has found because we’re always adding new secrets to the game,” he told GamesRadar. “There’s one out there right now and we’ll see how that plays out over the course of the next few weeks.”
Obviously the new perks have been added in an attempt to bring lapsed players back in, but also reward those who have been loyal to the game. Now that there’s something extra to grab, I might have a reason to fire up the game again. However that will reinforce its existence in my daughter’s mind, which could make things difficult. In any event the update is being rolled out now.
