Overwatch has quickly lit up the competitive eSports community. Another tournament, called the Overwatch Open has just been announced and the battles will begin on July 23. The tournament is being hosted by ELeague and FaceIt. Eleague is part of the Turner broadcasting family.
“This opportunity to feature Blizzard’s popular Overwatch further expands our eSports offerings and aligns Eleague with a game that is widely embraced by the community,” said Craig Barry, EVP and Chief Content Officer, Turner Sports. “We look forward to bringing the same level of production and storytelling capabilities we’ve demonstrated throughout the first season of ELeague to this championship event.”

The European and North American contests are the first to begin and will run for the next month. Then playoffs will begin on August 26. The grand final will be held live at the ELeague Arena in Atlanta. The total prize pool for the event is $300,000.
