Xbox One’s most recent update is preparing it for two pretty exciting features: backwards compatibility and the ability to stream games to Windows 10.
Windows 10 is set to release July 29. It will be a free upgrade if you’re already running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. (No, there’s no Windows 9.) With it comes cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10, including the ability to purchase games on one or the other and switch between them. And, of course, streaming from Xbox One to PC and vice versa.
Probably the most anticipated feature will be backwards compatibility, the ability to play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One. The initial phase launched with only 20 games with compatibility, but presumably that will be expanded universally later this year.
