If you’ve been waiting to pick up an Xbox One, now is a good time to do it. Microsoft just announced that it will be releasing a new, 1-terabyte version of the Xbox One to replace the previous 500-gigabyte versions. Meanwhile, the 500GB version will get a permanent price drop to only $350. That’s still a pretty substantial chunk of cash, but it’s a great deal for a the still-new console.
Keep in mind that 500GB may seem like a lot of storage, but Xbox One users have frequently requested that Microsoft add more space to the console.
If you decide to pick up the updated 1TB version, you’ll also get a new controller. This one comes with a headphone jack, a definite benefit to families who keep the console in the living room or players who game late into the night. (The PlayStation 4 controller already had this functionality, but older versions of the Xbox One controller did not.) The wireless controller will also allow players to set the volume limit at a higher decibel, which may not be such good news for parents nervous about hearing loss. The quality of the sound has been improved, however, and players will have more control over audio and mic specifics. (The new controller can be purchased separately from the new console).
The 1TB Xbox One will begin shipping June 16 in the United States.
