Creative and educational designer Ugee has launched Funbox, a desktop 3D printer for kids (and families) ages 4-12. The 3D printer features child-friendly controls, a kid-tailored OS powered by AI, and family safety features.

The device resembles a miniature washing machine with rounded edges and a fully enclosed chassis. Funbox has earned UL GREENGUARD, ASTM F963-23, EN71 & EN62115 international toy safety standards, and comes equipped with H12 HEPA filter and activated carbon cotton dual air purification module to help trap particles and unpleasant odors.

Funbox can safely be used for overnight printing and inside closed, carpeted rooms.

The 3D printer comes fully assembled right out of the box, and features a print speed of 500 mm/s. A built-in 2MP HD camera allows for remote monitoring.

Using Funbox’s proprietary AI ShapeGen algorithm, kids can turn their sketchwork and creative ideas into printable models. The UFun App features an updating library of toys, stationary, models, and more, alongside free STEM tutorial courses that teach structural design and engineering.

“As 3D printing evolves, there is robust market demand for safe, easy-to-use printers tailored for kids and beginners,” said Amy Yuan, Global Brand Director of Ugee. “Backed by UL certification, our printers provide comprehensive eco-friendly safety protection to put parents’ minds at ease. We aim to make 3D printing accessible to all, not just tech experts. We iterated products around safety, ease and fun: full one-tap operation from unboxing, streamlined workflows and kid-focused interfaces. AI fuels easy creation, making home toy printing simple and delightful. Most importantly, children build creative thinking and problem-solving skills through play, fully aligned with STEAM education.”

Funbox 3D printer is available now for pre-order at the official Ugee website with a discounted price tag of $269 (normally $329), which includes seven rolls of PLA filaments (normally $50), for early-bird buyers. The purchase includes free shipping and a 12 month warranty. Early bird offer ends August 5. Orders will ship around mid-August.
