Crinkle Cut Games and PQube have released Discounty, an indie management and life sim where you manage and expand a supermarket. It’s available now on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox ($19.99).
As the manager of a supermarket, players must manage their inventory, stock the shelves, and negotiate with suppliers to get new product. Players can also customize the market with different layouts, themes, and displays.
Discounty is as much about exploring the town of blomkest and meeting the locals as expanding your grocery empire. The locals don’t exactly take kindly to your presence, creating drama right from the start.
“Discounty lets you live the fantasy of building up a big business from nothing in a small country town,” said Ian Stewart, communications director, Crinkle Cut Games. “But growth often has consequences – not everyone in Blomkest is thrilled about your store’s ever-growing footprint.”
“With Discounty, we wanted to make an unapologetic shopkeeping sim, finding the fun in the most everyday tasks,” added Anne Elsberg, writer & co-founder, Crinkle Cut Games. “And by adding a dash of satire, we hope to bring a little edge to the ‘cozy’ genre.”
The top YouTube comment on the trailer jokes about players running Joja Mart in Stardew Valley, which does look pretty accurate!
A 20% launch discount is available on PC through Sept. 4. Discounty is also compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, and verified on the Steam Deck. It’s rated E for Everyone.
