Summer is fast approaching, and it’s a good time to learn or refresh pool rules and aquatic safety. To help raise awareness and prevent tragedies, the Aquatic Safety Research Group have released Dr. Tom’s Lifeguard Vision. The educational app is available on the App Store and Google stores for iOS and Android mobile devices.

Dr. Tom’s Lifeguard Vision is a free app that “simulates real drowning behaviors.” Many drownings aren’t loud and dramatic. They happen fast, and often without warning. The app depicts sample, realistic drowning scenarios as 3D scenarios that help teach parents and adults what to look for in the water.

“Dr. Tom” refers to the app’s creators, aquatic safety experts Dr. Tom Griffiths and Dr. Rachel Griffiths, and owners of Aquatic Safety Research Group.

“You can’t save what you can’t see,” says Dr. Griffiths. “Our goal is simple: make drowning prevention something everyone can practice.”

The app has been recognized by Aquatics International as a Most Valuable Product.

The Aquatic Safety Research Group provides lifeguard training, risk management workshops, safety audits, educational programs, and more across the United States and the world.
