During the Dreamhaven Showcase, Moonshot Games revealed their debut game, Wildgate. Wildgate will launch later this year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Wildgate is first-person, multiplayer extraction shooter in space. Players form teams of small crews to customize and pilot their spacecraft, explore the galaxy, and plunder sweet loot. Basically, space pirates!

Each crew must make it to the exit with a mysterious Artifact, or destroy all opposing ships, to win the match.

The area of space known as the Reach is procedurally generated, and changes with every game. The Artifact will always be heavily guarded, however.

Players can choose from among a variety of colorful alien Prospectors, each with their own unique set of skills and tools, and choose their ship loadout.

Wildgate is designed primarily for multiplayer, with four-person squads. The official FAQ mentions a Practice mode vs AI, though it requires at least two players.

“Wildgate was designed for anyone that’s ever wanted to go on a daring space adventure alongside a fearless crew,” said Jason Chayes, studio head, Moonshot Games. “Players are invited to work together and confront evolving cosmic threats – whether they’re mysterious hazards of the Reach – or presented by rival Prospectors. We’re counting on you to bring your best-laid plans… and hey, even if they don’t pan out for the win, we’ve found that some of our favorite experiences are the ones we least expect.”

Interested players can sign up for the first community playtest at the official website. The playtest is scheduled for April 10-14. The playtest will be available on all platforms, and support cross-play.

Wildgate is rated T for Teen.

The Dreamhaven Showcase also confirmed release dates for tabletop-inspired tactical RPG Sunderfolk (April 23), as well as the 1.0 launch of crafting action-RPG Lynked: Banner of the Spark (May 22).

Going to be a big year for the new publisher!
