Hazelight Studios and EA released a new trailer for Spit Fiction confirming the Friend’s Pass, and it’s actually better than ever.

Friend’s Pass has been a signature feature of Hazelight Studio’s co-op games, allowing players who don’t own the game to download a trial version to play with their friend who does own it.

In other words, only one copy of the game is needed for two players. Obvious for local co-op, but a huge boon for online co-op!

Split Fiction’s Friend’s Pass is even better, however.

First, it supports cross platform multiplayer. For the first time, co-op partners don’t even have to be on the same game system to play together.

Additionally, Split Fiction features a new Friend’s Pass Trial feature. If neither play actually owns the game, both players can download a Trial version using the Friend’s Pass. It’s essentially a co-op demo, with only the opening stages of the game available. If at least one player chooses to purchase the game, they can continue from where they left off in the Trial.

Split Fiction stars Mio and Zoe, two creative writers who get thrown into their own creations together. The pair must work together to escape their own fantasy and sci-fi worlds.

Split Fiction will release on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on March 6. It’s rated T for Teen.
