There’s something to be said about weirdly simple minimalist games. A game called ‘Banana,’ where players click on an image of a banana over and over, is still one of the most played games on Steam, with over a hundred thousand concurrent players.
Indie publisher Rokaplay Bou-tique announced that A Game About Digging a Hole, which is a game about digging a hole, has sold over 250,000 copies on Steam.
It’s actually closer to Powerwash Simulator than Banana, and that’s a big compliment. Players dig a hole in their backyard in a 3D, first-person view. Earn money and collect resources to upgrade equipment and dig a deeper hole. Nothing bad happens if we dig too deep, right?
AGADAH (which is an amazing acronym), reached the Steam Top Sellers list, and currently boasts over 5,000 players. It was created by solo developer Cyberwave as a side project, while working on their next game, Solarpunk.
According to the announcement, AGADAH was built in only 14 days, just for funzies.
Apparently there is a big secret if you dig far enough. Do we reach the other side of the world? Do we find some hidden treasure? Do I have nightmares about the digging scene from the film Vivarium?
Best of all, it’s only $5, and coming soon to consoles.
